Tampa Bay Buccaneers Redesign
The Tampa Bay Bucs just released a redesign of their branding for the 2014-15 season. Overall, the designs made some progress in the right direction. For instance, they updated a lot of grungy elements that made them look like a school project. On the other hand, a grunge look actually makes sense for a team that's named the Buccaneers...
The ship emblem is huge upgrade in my opinion. While the new one may be a tad over designed, the old one looked like something out of a clip art book.
One element of the redesign I'm not sold on is the over-sized logo on the helmet. It seems a big aggressive and unnecessary.
I'm not crazy about the overall uniforms either. The digital numbers that appear to be reflective make absolutely no sense. Are they supposed to be pirates from the future? To me, it seems like they went overboard on trying to make the design modern, while forgetting that their team
There's been a lock of back lash by both designers and fans of the team but I don't find it necessary. Small market clubs are going to do everything they can to keep interested and rebranding tends to be a popular move among them. Personally, I think everyone is made because they're not bringing back these bad boys:
